All About Sleep: Children’s Health (Obesity)


Sleep is vital and most essential for your mental and physical Health. How can we know that we are truly sleeping well? Studies reveal that Poor sleep can lead to Higher Body Mass Index in Children.
Recent Studies from American Association for Cancer Research Special Conference Obesity and Cancer revealed that lack of sleep will lead to various health issues leading to deadly Obesity. Child Obesity is carried to Adult Obesity. This ultimately leads to cancers of high risk. Researchers have focused on the point of duration of sleep that makes the health get affected with high risk disorders. The point of Obesity rises from not the quality of sleep but the time of duration of the sleep. In the study the research team has enrolled 120 students to know the track cycle of the exposure of environment and nutrition risk on how genes work.
To track the sleep cycle the team of children were asked to wear accelerometers continuously for 24 hours per day for a serial of 5 days .Researchers made a track record of the children’s hunger, Children’s were gone through the hunger test, and reported when they were full and the list of details when the children felt satisfied with the hunger.
The researchers made a record of:
1.The shorter the sleep the higher was the BMI score each hour of an extra sleep was associated with a .13 decrease in BMI z-score, and with a 1.29 centimetre decrease in waist circumference.
2. More fragmented rest-activity rhythms and increased intraday variability, a measure of the frequency and extent of transitions between sleep and activity, were also associated with greater waist circumferences.
The overall studies revealed that, the duration of sleep is most important.
In today world many children do not get enough sleep due to many distractions, which will take the risk of obesity and Cancer, Studies also say the truth of strong connection between Obesity and Cancer.
More studies on the point that Is Weight affecting the sleep or the quality of sleep is affecting the weight gain.
